Commex Basalt Technology is a subsidiary of the Commex Partners (part of Commodity Trade Partners ltd) a European raw materials specialist. We specialise in industrial Basalt fibres, such as roving, fabric and yarns, chopped fibres, and rebars.

The production plant of Basaltic Fibres will be situated at the R&D location in Saudi Arabia, where East & West European standards of quality and service are assured. The development of the CBT fibre will be carried out in readiness to bring nature and science together. This is backed-up by the technological know-how in product development and in the capability for guaranteeing formulas and mixtures long-term. These achievements are derived not least from comprehensive technological acquired experience and competence in developing high-tech processes.

Volcanic rock types with the most varied chemical compositions are specially sought out for use in very wide-ranging applications.  The basaltic raw materials are prepared in the unique technology 2nd Generation technological process acquired has developed and are homogenized and mixed taking specific individual requirements into account in the production process.

Volcanic rock with high potential

The unlimited availability of high-quality raw materials of volcanic origin in around 30 major deposits in Europe is the foundation for the strategic business field of Commex Basalt Technology.

Volcanic rock originates at a depth of hundreds of kilometres as the liquid magma of the earth's upper mantle. When magma reaches the surface, it cools to igneous rock and can be mined as a raw material. This volcanic rock contains in addition to its main component’s silicon and oxygen, a distinctive composition of elements such as calcium, magnesium, iron, sodium, potassium, aluminium and titanium.

Volcanic rock with precisely defined properties is melted at various extremely high temperatures of around 1,700°C and extruded in the form of continuous fiber through drawing nozzles – a highly complex process that has been developed, tested and matured over decades and that had its origins in the space technology program of the former Soviet Union. Continuous fibers are highly tension-proof and temperature resistant. They also have outstanding chemical and alkali resistance, are strong insulators and are very easy to recycle.

These unique properties will soon ensure that CBT fibre will advance to become one of the most important materials with the strongest demand on the international market.

A bundle of basalt monofilaments consisting of elementary fibres. It is used to produce a wide range of composites based on cement, polymer, metal and ceramic matrices.

CBT has developed an innovative solution for non-metallic reinforcement. German engineering company EDAG unveiled concept Light Car - Open Source, which demonstrates a vision of how environmentally friendly cars will look of the future.

The main feature of the prototype - a unique body material that is based on basalt fibre, which is lightweight, completely recyclable and extremely durable material. It is much easier and cheaper to manufacture than parts made of aluminium or carbon fibre

Cylinders (Products)

Basalt has been used in the production of structures of steels for last many years. It is considered actual because of the increasing steel prices in the world. Because of the excellent basalt properties, the materials are utilized specifically in places where sliding abrasion is present. It is used as an insert that offers resistance to abrasion in pieces of shape basalt cylinders.

Basalt cylinders are regarded perfect for the hydraulic transportation of materials that are abrasive. The basalt cylinders that are used in the process of pneumatic transport in power plans, transportation of chemical materials that possess abrasion, work up to maximum speed of 22 m/s. The temperature requirement for the aforementioned processes is limited by 350°C. The special pieces of cast basalt like cyclones, bends, jets, Y-pieces, T-pieces and branches protect the alloy steel materials and assist in multiplying the lifetime of equipment's from five up to twenty years.

Security
